In God of War Ragnarok, players can engage in an activity called The Slumbering Trolls, where they must locate and wake up stone troll statues scattered throughout the nine realms. To wake up the trolls, players must obtain the Mystical Heirloom Relic, which can be equipped in the weapons menu and activated by pressing L1+X or L1+Circle near a troll statue. What You'll Learn

Waking sleeping trolls with the Mystical Heirloom Relic
In God of War Ragnarok, the Mystical Heirloom Relic is a curious equippable relic that initially seems to serve no purpose. However, it is a key item that can be used to awaken stone Trolls and engage in mini-boss fights. These Trolls are located across different realms of Midgard, usually near a Lore Marker that describes them being imprisoned and "put to sleep" by Alviss Stonefoot.
To acquire the Mystical Heirloom Relic, you must first complete the "Forging Destiny" main quest in Chapter 10 and obtain a new item to open pathways. Then, head to Midgard's Lake of Nine and travel south-west of Tyr's Temple. Look for a large icy wall with a yellow wind vent or a glowing spot in the middle, which denotes a destructible environment. Use your new tool or the Draupnir Spear to break through the ice and access a small crevice. Inside, you will find the Mystical Heirloom Relic on the floor next to a dead dwarf.
Once you have the Relic, equip it in your Relic slot and activate it by pressing L1+Circle on your controller. This will have no effect unless you are near one of the Troll statues. The closest Troll to awaken is at the Derelict Outpost, west of the Lake of Nine. Cross the first gap after climbing up to enter the ruins, and you will find the giant troll statue. There are a total of four different Sleeping Trolls, with two of them in the same location.
In addition to waking Trolls, the Mystical Heirloom can also be used to awaken a petrified dragon statue on Dragon Beach in Svartalfheim. This dragon, known as The Everlasting, will provide materials for the Dragon-Scaled armour set upon defeating it. Defeating the Trolls will earn you Slumber Stones, a unique resource used to craft the powerful Steinbjorn Armor set, which allows you to stun enemies and heal yourself when taking damage.

Finding and defeating Golrab of the Ashes
To find and defeat Golrab of the Ashes, you must first locate them in Vanaheim. From the Mystic Gateway at Freyr's Camp, near River Delta, navigate the river and keep to the left. Once you arrive in Noatun's Garden, you will find Golrab of the Ashes and Golrab of the Frost.
Before engaging in the fight, make sure to clear the area of any other enemies. These two trolls will attack you simultaneously, so it is best to focus on one troll at a time while avoiding the attacks of the other. The Golrabs will try to blind you by throwing dirt and have a powerful move indicated by a red ring around their torso, after which they will charge and slam their pillar down. This attack cannot be blocked, interrupted, or parried, so you must dodge it. If your vision becomes obscured, try to back away and keep your distance until your vision clears.
The Golrabs are slow and not very intelligent, so you should be able to manage them with some careful dodging and blocking. They rely heavily on the pillars they carry, which they will use to try and knock you out. You will have enough time between their attacks to damage them.
Upon defeating Golrab of the Ashes and Golrab of the Frost, you will be rewarded with Slumber Stones and the Momentous Stride Enchantment, which powers your Permafrost, Immolation, and Malestrom gauges when dodging at the last moment.

Fighting Golrab of the Frost
To wake the sleeping trolls in God of War Ragnarok, you must first obtain the Mystical Heirloom Relic. This can be found in Midgard, southwest of Tyr's Temple. You will see a giant wall of ice with a glowing spot in the middle. Use your Draupnir Spear to hit the glowing spot and make the ice block explode. You will then find the Mystical Heirloom Relic on the ground next to a Dwarf's body.
Now, you must equip the relic in your inventory menu. When you find a sleeping stone troll, you can wake it by pressing L1 and Circle on your controller.
The third and fourth stone trolls, Golrab of the Frost and his counterpart, Golrab of the Ashes, can be found in Vanaheim. From the Mystic Gateway at Freyr's Camp, near the River Delta, navigate the river and keep to the left. Once you arrive in Noatun's Garden, you will find the two trolls. It is important to clear the area of other enemies before starting the fight, as you will be facing two trolls at once.
Golrab of the Frost is immune to your axe, so you will need to use alternative weapons and strategies to defeat him. Focus on taking down one troll at a time, and try to avoid the attacks of the other while you do so. Once you have defeated one, you can dedicate yourself to the second enemy. Don't forget that your companion can also help in the fight.
Each troll you defeat will drop a unique Slumber Stone, which can be used to craft the powerful Steinbjorn armor set. This set provides exceptional defence and includes perks that aid in health regeneration.

Where to find the four stone trolls
To wake the stone trolls in God of War Ragnarok, you must first get the Mystical Heirloom Relic. It is located in Midgard, southwest of Tyr’s Temple. Once you have the relic, you can wake the stone trolls by pressing L1 and Circle on your controller.
There are four stone trolls in total, two of which are in the same location. Here are the locations of the four stone trolls:
- Blodugr Steinn: The first troll, Blodugr Steinn, is located in the Derelic Outpost in the Lake of Nine region of Midgard. The easiest way to get there is to travel to the Derelic Outpost Mystic Getaway and then use the chain to climb up the mountain. Follow the trail past The Lost Treasury, and you will easily spot it after you climb up the chain to reach the ruins and follow the path on the left.
- Bjarg Stormr: The second troll, Bjarg Stormr, can be found in Alfheim, specifically in The Forbidden Sands southwest of The Burrows. This area can only be accessed after completing the Secret of the Sands and the Song of the Sands Favours, which will stop the sandstorm in the Realm and allow you to explore it fully.

Make sure to clear the area of other enemies before engaging in the boss fight.
It is recommended to fight these trolls one at a time as Golrab of the Ashes is immune to the Blades of Chaos, while Golrab of the Frost is immune to your axe.

How to craft the Steinbjorn armour set
The Steinbjorn armour set is considered one of the best sets in God of War Ragnarok, offering high defence, health restoration, and a high chance to stagger and stun enemies. It is crafted from Slumber Stones, which can only be looted from specific trolls.
To craft the Steinbjorn armour set, players will first need to obtain the Mystical Heirloom Relic, found in Midgard by completing the "Forging Destiny" story mission and gaining access to the Draupnir Spear. With the spear, head south of Tyr's Temple, where you will find a frozen wall that can be broken by Draupnir. Breaking the wall will reveal the Mystical Heirloom, along with a scroll from Alviss Stonefoot. The scroll mentions his craftsmanship and the Trolls that he turned to stone, which can be found and set free in God of War Ragnarok.
There are four Trolls in three locations across the map, and players will need to defeat all four to craft all three pieces of the Steinbjorn set. The first Troll can be found at The Derelict Outpost in Midgard, where players can use the Mystical Heirloom to summon Blodugr Steinn. Defeating this Troll will reward players with the blueprints for all three parts of the armour set, as well as the first Slumber Stone. The second Troll can be found in The Forbidden Sands in Alfheim. The third and fourth Trolls can be found in Noatun's Garden in Vanaheim, by taking a boat at the dock and following the river left.
Each Troll will drop one Slumber Stone, so players will need to defeat all four to obtain the four Slumber Stones required to craft the complete Steinbjorn armour set. Once players have collected all the necessary resources, they can visit any blacksmith shop in any realm to craft the set.
