Sleep Number Remote: Easy, Efficient, And Effective

how does sleep number remote work

Sleep Number beds come with a remote that allows users to control the various features of their mattress and/or adjustable base. The remote controls the firmness of the mattress, as well as any additional features like a FlexFit adjustable base. The first step to using the remote is pairing it with the mattress. This can be done by navigating to the Settings menu on the remote, selecting 'Pair Bed', and following the prompts on the remote. The remote will guide the user through the connection process.

Pairing your Sleep Number remote

It is important not to set the remote down until the pairing process is finished, as the screen will go to sleep and you will have to start over. If the remote is unable to pair after 3 attempts, remove the batteries from your remote for 10 seconds, re-insert them, and try the pairing process again.

Once paired, you can use the remote to control the various features of your mattress and/or adjustable base. You can adjust the ideal firmness and support of your mattress to find your Sleep Number® setting. This process will take a few minutes. Begin by lying on the bed in your preferred sleeping position. Press the Side button to choose your side of the bed, and then press the Enter button to show the main menu.

You can also use the Sleep Number app to control your Sleep Number® setting. In the app, go to Settings and choose 'Find Your Sleep Number'. Follow the instructions on the app to find your Sleep Number® setting. It is normal for your Sleep Number® setting to need adjusting after finding it in the store. Give your body time to adjust and play around with different settings every few nights as needed. Soon, you will find the Sleep Number® setting that is just right for you.

Finding your Sleep Number setting

To find your Sleep Number setting, you can use either the SleepIQ® app or your remote. This process will take a few minutes. Begin by lying on the bed in your preferred sleeping position. If you have more than one sleeping position, try the one you usually wake up in, as this is the position you spend the most time in at night. Make sure your pillows are propped up as they would be if you were sleeping.

Next, your bed will get firmer, increasing to 100, which is the firmest Sleep Number® setting. As the bed gets firmer, relax and pay attention to how your body feels. After reaching the firmest setting, your bed will get softer. Again, pay attention to how your body feels as the bed gets softer.

The moment your body feels perfectly supported, with no discomfort at your pressure points, select Enter on the remote or press Stop on the app. You have now found your Sleep Number setting. Your app will automatically save this setting as your Favorite Sleep Number Setting, and you can also save it on your remote.

Your Sleep Number setting will likely change over time as your body and support needs change. You can always adjust your Sleep Number setting, so it is never permanent. You can also try adjusting your number by 5 or 10 notches if, after a few days, you feel that something doesn't feel quite right. At your ideal Sleep Number setting, your neck and back should be aligned in the same position as when you're standing. If you sleep on your back, the mattress should "fill in" to support the small of your back. If you sleep on your side, the mattress should "fill in" to support the curves of your side.

Troubleshooting Sleep Number remote

Troubleshooting a Sleep Number remote can be done through a few general steps. Firstly, check the remote's messaging for any suggested actions to resolve the issue. If the problem persists, try removing and reinserting the batteries. This is also a good opportunity to replace them with fresh batteries.

If the issue is not resolved, perform a restart or power cycle on the bed. This can be done via the Sleep Number app on your smart device by going to 'Smart Bed' and then 'Settings'. If you don't have the app, you can power cycle by unplugging the bed from the wall, waiting 20 seconds, and plugging it back in.

To rule out any larger issues, run a Quick System Test through the Sleep Number app. Go to 'Smart Bed', then 'Settings', and then 'Quick System Test'. If any failures are identified, follow the troubleshooting steps provided.

For issues with the SleepIQ® or DualTemp™ options missing from the remote, error codes E13, E14, E16, E2, ER, E, or E0, or if the remote is operating on the wrong side of the bed, specific troubleshooting steps are available on the Sleep Number support website.
