Xehanort is a fictional character and the main antagonist of the Dark Seeker Saga, the first phase of the Kingdom Hearts series. Xehanort was created by Kingdom Hearts director and designer, Tetsuya Nomura, who decided to revise elements of the character when Square Enix greenlit Kingdom Hearts II. Xehanort was originally conceptualized by Tetsuya Nomura as a villain who would only appear in the video game Kingdom Hearts. However, when given the approval to make the sequel, Nomura put together an outline for the character.
Xehanort's origins and connection to Terra-Xehanort were hinted at when it was revealed that he would be voiced by Chikao Ōtsuka, the father of Akio Ōtsuka, who voiced Terra-Xehanort and Ansem. In the Final Mix version of the game, Young Xehanort's Collision Magnet was weakened to make it easier for the player to dodge. Young Xehanort will attack whenever he sees an opening and can heal himself using Renewal Block or Renewal Barrier.
