Ventus, also known as Ven, is one of the main protagonists in Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep. He is a Keyblade wielder and Union leader, and the youngest of the trio formed by himself, Terra, and Aqua. In the game, Ventus helps Huey, Dewey, and Louie fix their ice cream machine, and he trains with Hercules. He also visits Cinderella's world, where he collects items necessary for creating Cinderella's dress and rides around on a ball of yarn. Ventus's heart is severely damaged by the creation of his dark counterpart, Vanitas, and by the destruction of the χ-blade forged from their hearts. By the end of the game, Ventus's heart sleeps within Sora's, healing until it can rejoin Ventus's body, which lies comatose in the Chamber of Waking.

Sora's heart reaches out to mend Ventus's heart. Sora subconsciously enters his own Dive into Heart, where he encounters Ventus's damaged heart. Wanting to cheer Ventus up, Sora allows Ventus's heart to rest within his own, and the two merge. Ventus's heart has gone to sleep within Sora's so that it can recover until it is fully healed and ready to rejoin his body, which lies comatose but safe within the Chamber of Waking.
Ventus is later woken from his slumber and returns to training with Terra and Aqua in the Land of Departure. He is reunited with his Chirithy from the distant past.
