Huawei TruSleep technology

To view your sleep data, access the Huawei Health app home screen, and touch the Sleep card. Here, you can see detailed sleep data, including your sleep score, staging chart, and sleep details. You can also access historical sleep data records by navigating to the All data section on the Sleep screen.

To monitor your sleep, ensure you wear your Huawei device properly while sleeping. It will then automatically record your sleep data, including sleep duration and sleep stages. You can also use the 'Go to sleep' feature, where you place your phone within 50 cm of your pillow, and it will monitor and record your sleep data.

The Huawei sleep tracker also offers customisable sleep settings. You can enable Auto or Scheduled sleep modes. Auto is enabled by default, and the device will automatically enter and exit Sleep mode based on your sleep status. In Sleep mode, the device won't ring or vibrate for notifications or calls, except for alarms. The Raise to wake feature is also disabled in Sleep mode. When Scheduled is enabled, the device will follow your set schedule for entering and exiting Sleep mode.

Enabling Sleep Mode

To enable Sleep mode, enter the device's app list and select Sleep. From there, swipe up to access the More screen, where you can find Sleep mode or Settings. Here, you have the option to enable Auto or Scheduled sleep mode. Auto is enabled by default and will automatically put your device into Sleep mode based on your sleep status. In this mode, your device won't ring or vibrate for notifications or calls, and the Raise to Wake function is disabled. If you choose Scheduled, your device will enter and exit Sleep mode according to the schedule you set.

Disabling Sleep Mode

Sleep mode is usually disabled by default. To disable it manually, swipe down on the device's home screen and look for the option to disable Sleep mode. Alternatively, you can open Huawei Health, go to the device details screen, navigate to Health Monitoring, and toggle Huawei TruSleep off. Keep in mind that if you disable TruSleep manually, you won't be able to access sleep data and analysis.

Sleep Tracking

Huawei's sleep tracking technology, TruSleep, uses PPG signals from heart rate detection and the Cardiopulmonary Coupling (CPC) algorithm to track sleep. It identifies motion features, classifies motion levels, and incorporates heart rate fluctuations to determine when you fall asleep and wake up. This technology focuses on five key sleep issues: difficulty falling asleep, frequent interruptions, insufficient sleep, irregular sleep schedule, and poor sleep quality.

Sleep Data

To view your sleep data, enter the device app list, select Sleep, and swipe up to access the More screen. Here, you can view your sleep health information, sleep duration, and sleep stages (deep sleep, light sleep, REM sleep). You can also access historical data records and delete them if needed. Additionally, you can view your Sleep score, staging chart, and sleep details on your wearable device, provided it has the latest software updates.

Accessing sleep data

To access your sleep data, you will need to use either the Huawei Health app on your phone or your Huawei wearable device.

Enter the device app list and select Sleep () to check out your night sleep and nap data, as well as Sleep health information. You can touch the screen for more details on your result description. To view your Sleep score, staging chart, and sleep details, your device will need to be updated to its latest version. This feature is only available on certain product models, such as the Huawei Watch 4 Series.

Access the home screen of Huawei Health and touch the Sleep card to view detailed data. On the Sleep screen, touch the icon in the upper right corner and then All data to access historical data records. From that screen, you can touch the delete icon in the upper right corner to delete data records.

Huawei TruSleep

Huawei TruSleep is enabled by default. If it is manually disabled, sleep data cannot be obtained and sleep analysis will become unavailable. Huawei TruSleep uses PPG signals from Huawei's heart rate detection technology and the Cardiopulmonary Coupling (CPC) algorithm to track sleep.

Monitoring sleep talk and snoring

To monitor sleep talk and snoring using your Huawei device, you will need to enable Sleep mode. To do this, swipe down on the device's home screen and toggle Sleep mode on. When enabled, your device won't ring or vibrate for incoming calls and notifications (except when an alarm goes off). Raise to wake will also be disabled, putting the device in a simplified mode.

If you have AOD enabled, turning on Sleep mode will cause the AOD watch face to turn off a few seconds after activation. To access Sleep mode settings, open Huawei Health, navigate to the device details screen, and go to Health monitoring > HUAWEI TruSleep™. Here, you can toggle Sleep mode on or off to suit your preferences. TruSleep™ is enabled by default, and if manually disabled, sleep data cannot be obtained and sleep analysis will be unavailable.

Once Sleep mode is enabled, your device will automatically record your sleep duration and identify whether you're in deep sleep, light sleep, REM sleep, or awake. To view your sleep talk and snoring records, enter the device app list and select Sleep. From here, you can check out your night sleep and nap data, as well as sleep health information. Touch for more details on the result description.

On the Sleep screen, you can view your sleep sound records, including sleep talk and snoring. To favourite a record, hold it down and select the favourite option. You can also save sleep talk and snoring records locally by selecting a record, touching the share icon, and saving it to your phone. These records can then be viewed in the Files app.

Understanding sleep tracking principles

Huawei's sleep tracking technology, TruSleep, uses PPG signals from the device's heart rate detection technology and the Cardiopulmonary Coupling (CPC) algorithm to monitor sleep. CPC calculates sleep stages and respiratory quality based on continuous single-lead ECG signals. There is a close correlation between ECG and breathing, which is enhanced when you are in deep sleep and can vary depending on whether you are awake, sleeping lightly, or suffering from a health ailment.

The ACC and PPG data is used by TruSleep to identify motion features, classify motion levels, and incorporate heart rate fluctuations to track sleep data such as sleep time, wake-up time, and sleep structure. The sleep tracking period is from 20:00 of the current day to 20:00 of the next day. Any sleep generated from 20:00 to 00:00 of the current day is recorded as the next day's sleep.

TruSleep 3.0 monitors sleep data such as fall-asleep or wake-up status, sleep duration, and maps sleep and body movements, heart rate, and heart rate variability (HRV) via a multi-modal fusion algorithm model to enhance sleep tracking accuracy. It focuses on five major sleep issues: difficulty falling asleep, frequent interruptions during sleep, insufficient sleep, irregular sleep schedule, and poor sleep quality.

To ensure accurate sleep tracking, the device should be worn correctly, with the screen facing upward and a snug fit on the wrist. It should be worn at least one-finger width above the wrist, and the rear cover should be clean, dry, and free of foreign objects. Signals from moving transports, such as airplanes, high-speed railways, and cars, may interfere with the device's sleep status identification, resulting in inaccurate sleep data.
